As for this duality, it's not that non-slam tournaments aren't indicative of a player's performance anymore. It's that Fed is gradually approaching a Serena-styled commitment to tennis. Not that he doesn't bother to turn up, the man turns up and plays. Just don't expect him to fight for a match when things get tight, at least not in the way that he would in a slam.

And this Federman fan says to hell with parity. I like Federer tennis and the betterer Federer, the betterer tennis. But that's just me of course.

Funny how a slam can change so much. Before coming into the final, every single news outlet was saying how open the field was. It was almost like we were back in 2007 with Roddick's "the gap is closing" comment.

Not a single ESPN writer picked Federer to win. He's Roger Federer, and not a SINGLE person picked him to win. I dare say it gave him some extra motivation.

But the rest of the field ain't going anywhere. I still see 4 possible winners for the 4 slams. I still see Rafa winning Roland Garros. And I don't see Fed being a dead lock for Wimbledon. A favourite for it though.

So Warped-Pete will have plenty-a parity coming.dootsiezhttp://allineedisapicketfence.wordpress.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8948801468516043822.post-56995722238101833682010-02-11T18:06:10.092+00:002010-02-11T18:06:10.092+00:00WP tells me to say he agrees with you, though is a...WP tells me to say he agrees with you, though is a little concerned by the cavernous gap that's suddenly sprung up between Fed and Murray/Djoko - he's also not as convinced with the rankings as he once was.Zafarhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11909444215193865334noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8948801468516043822.post-62559511601539238882010-02-11T16:50:21.807+00:002010-02-11T16:50:21.807+00:00OK, this is getting scary now!!!

But Davydenko has given us nothing to go on yet - not at the Slams.

Also, if Oz shows us anything it's that there's very little duality between the Slams and the Masters events. Suddenly tigers like Davydenko are mere pussycats once more.

That said, post-Wimbledon last year, Federer won Montreal and Murray makes his second Slam final playing the best tennis of his career. So maybe some duality after all.Warped-Petehttp://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/5/52/Pete_Sampras.jpgnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8948801468516043822.post-35320680468788755832010-02-11T09:44:43.544+00:002010-02-11T09:44:43.544+00:00OK, allow me to explain myself to Warped-Pete/You ...OK, allow me to explain myself to Warped-Pete/You at whichever point in time he/you wish to consider:

I think only 2 or 3 players can topple Fed in a Slam final, however, it may be that he can vulnerable earlier on against the likes of Davydenko and Roddick. True, I'm only going by Masters events which only have 3-setters, but if you can have a dream that you're chatting to Pete Sampras in a different realm of time about modern day tennis, well...who's off his head?!? :P2Handerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05694468226012362282noreply@blogger.com
