I know its a little much to expect fans to partake in that criticism (especially when they're hurting like now), but it gets a little tiring when they constantly challenge your right to raise any objection against, as you put it, "indefensible" behaviour. And even more tiring when they fail to make the distinction with hate.

Here's to a new breed of Fed Fans that cheer their man when he's on the up but are secure enough in their skins to call him up when he falls short. Which, lets be honest, all of us do from time to time.TopSpinhttp://tennisisserved.blogspot.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8948801468516043822.post-41336766556286594422010-07-01T15:09:02.430+01:002010-07-01T15:09:02.430+01:00Hi Alan.

All without ANY reference to injuries AT ALL.

It would have been nice to hear some of that from him at the main presser - arguably where/when it matters most.

Instead, he went into how his injuries were preventing him from executing - all after a defeat which was nothing if not emphatic.

Agree we shouldn't be calling for his head after one uncharacteristic outburst. Equally though, no one, not even Fed, is above criticism. There's really nothing wrong with observing that your favourite player has fallen short in their conduct and then moving on.

It worries me if any of that comes across as "jumping" on anyone.TopSpinhttp://tennisisserved.blogspot.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8948801468516043822.post-91228800220715704012010-07-01T13:14:57.202+01:002010-07-01T13:14:57.202+01:00Alan,

The only problem with that is that if he slips even a little bit, as he has done over the last two slams, or during his presser yesterday, it is magnified, and pounced on by the haters.zbrainnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8948801468516043822.post-58991543069212568782010-07-01T13:08:47.366+01:002010-07-01T13:08:47.366+01:00This is brilliant!!! > "Sarcasm people. People with the reading age of a 6 year old and the comprehension of a warthog."

I am a Fed fan for life, and although I believe he gave his conqueror ample credit, I find his atypical mention of injuries in a loss indefensible. Everyone is entitled to a surly day, and hopefully that is the worst that we'll see of Federer in a presser.

Great post!zbrainnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8948801468516043822.post-41179598867603646162010-07-01T03:15:25.855+01:002010-07-01T03:15:25.855+01:00Before you jump on Fed for making excuses with his...Before you jump on Fed for making excuses with his injuries, he admitted the old school mentality: if you can walk out on court, you're good enough to go and fight.

Same interview, and later he says: "I mean, once I enter the court, I am there to battle and to try to win with what I got. You know, otherwise I'm not going to walk on the court like I did once in my life prior in Bercy against Blake."

What more can we ask of him.Alan Wonghttp://twitter.com/forehandshankernoreply@blogger.com
