Don't expect much from him but he should get past Blake who seems kinda lost right now.Zafarhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11909444215193865334noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8948801468516043822.post-80783271868325317522009-01-18T10:44:00.000+00:002009-01-18T10:44:00.000+00:00OMG! It's a...Hi 2Hander
Good summary of all the quarters. It's a good draw, and a great field this year - some of the possible matchups are absolutely tantalizing. Yes, the possible fourth round matchup between Nadal and Gasquet was the first thing that caught my eye in that section too. But unless Gasquet catches the AO-finalist-syndrome, I don't see him getting past Nadal, hell he might not even get that far.

I see that you don't think much of Roddick's chances against Djokovic? I don't know... you might be surprised. Roddick is certainly in a much better place mentally than Djoker right now. If Andy Roddick could choose a quarter to end up in, I have no doubt that he would've chosen Djokovic's quarter, so I think he's like the look of his draw right now.

Another floater in that quarter you didn't mention was Nalbandian. I know a lot of people don't think much of Nalbandian's chances at the slams these days, and why would you, after a year like 2008? But at the same time, Nalby is one of those guys who can beat Federer one day and lose to a qualifier the next. So I'll definitely be keeping a close eye on that section of the draw.

But going to disagree with you on one point though - let's all discount Baghdatis. I saw him play twice at Kooyong this week, and watched his match against Nieminen at Brissie International last week - the guy's an absolute head case, not to mention he's not physically fit enough at this stage to last through a best of 5 match. He's not exactly done yet, but I seriously doubt he's going to get far this AO.

Anyway, great post and it's so exciting to be in grand slam mode again.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
